Behind the Lens
That’s me hiding behind my camera. I am a photographer living in Devon. I am very camera shy so I am happier taking photos than I am having my photograph taken. That might sound like a bit of a contradiction, but I think it makes me a better photographer. I love photographing people, telling their stories through portraiture and candid shots. Whatever they are doing, I always want to take their image with kindness.
I may be giving away my age if I say that I learnt my camera skills working with film. The kit may change but what makes a good photo is still determined by light, composition and timing.
My portfolio includes a broad range of projects - wildlife, landscape, wedding reportage, festivals and events, family life and people watching. I have been described as a portrait photographer. I think there is a lot of truth in this although many of my subjects are non-human.
Photography has taught me to really look at the world around. If one of my images can make someone else look again then I think I might have achieved something worthwhile.
